Brian Marcus Makes New Year’s Predictions

One of the long-standing traditions of ringing in the New Year is the practice of making predictions about what’s to come. We see this often in business – sometimes based on wishful thinking, but mostly based on expertise and experience within a given space. This week Brian Marcus, Director of the Global eBay Partner Network, weighed in on a blog post by Geno Prussakov titled “Affiliate Marketing Predictions for 2013.”

Brian’s thoughts:

Consumer-focus / Omni-channel Marketing: Omni-channel marketing will break down channel silos at retailers. Advertisers will better understand how affiliate partners contribute across the customer journey. Affiliates will be recognized for their role beyond simply closing.

Value-based Pricing: Advertisers will get more creative in tuning their media pricing to the quality of their traffic. Conventional “% of sale” media pricing will give way to more creative hybrid pricing models incorporating consumer lifetime value and KPIs into media spend.

“Smart” Tools: Proliferation of monetization tools for smaller publishers will emerge across networks. Better tools will incorporate sophisticated targeting algorithms and “network wisdom.” More rocket science than ever before.

You can read the entire set of predictions from industry veterans like; Shawn Collins, Jason Spievak, Lisa Picarille, Todd Crawford and, of course, Geno Prussakov HERE.

Do these observations resonate with you? If not, what are your predictions for 2013 in the affiliate marketing space? We’d love to get your insight in the comments below.

ePN TV: Brian Marcus Wants Publisher V.O.T.E.S. in 2013

This week on ePN TV, Brian Marcus, the Director of the Global eBay Partner Network, is laying out his vision for the future of the program. Interestingly, his chosen acronym ties in nicely with the recently wrapped-up election season here in the U.S.. Simply put, V.O.T.E.S. stands for Valuable, Open, Transparent, Easy and Scalable and in this episode Brian will explain how we plan to make that happen in the coming months.

We’re excited to share the 2013 vision for ePN and the value proposition it extends to our partners. If you have questions about any of the things that Brian discussed, please feel free to leave them in the comments below.

ePN TV: Introducing Brian Marcus, Director of Global eBay Partner Network

It’s an exciting day here at ePN as we get to introduce Brian Marcus, the new Director of the Global eBay Partner Network. We’ve been looking forward to making this announcement for some time and we thought it fitting to do it via ePN TV.

Brian comes to us from Chicago where he’s spent the last handful of years at Google Affiliate Network. He has a deep understanding and appreciation for the affiliate space and obviously has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.

“I have two first impressions on eBay – two words come to mind. The first is opportunity. This is a place of opportunity since it’s very beginnings and it’s in the fabric of the company,” says Marcus. “Second, is community. Community is a really important word here at eBay. It’s something that I hear in every corner of the offices and I find that to be very closely aligned with the way the affiliate world is – the affiliate world is a community and something that I feel very much a part of.”

We are thrilled to have Brian on board to drive eBay Partner Network forward. We’re confident that his experience, skill and leadership will bring great things to the program and its partners. If you have questions for Brian, please leave them in the comments below.

Please join us again in welcoming Brian to the team!
