Tracking

HOW DOES TRACKING WORK?

The core of tracking lies in the affiliate links provided.  Each affiliate link is embedded with unique parameters (campaign ID and custom ID) that work with a cookie to track commissions.  Cookies are used to record (save) relevant data, including affiliate site, when a click occurred, and what link was used to direct the user to eBay.com.

Visit optimizing links 101 (link to LP on optimizing links) to learn how campaign ID and custom ID can be set up to further optimize on your site.

WHAT IS THE COOKIE LENGTH?

The cookie length determines how long a visitor has from the time of their original visit to your site, to the point of completing a purchase on eBay in order for you to receive a commission.  We offer a 24 hour cookie.

This small piece of data is placed on the user’s computer upon clicking your affiliate link, and records the user’s relevant purchase path on eBay.com within the cookie window.

This means that if a user visits your site, and then returns to eBay.com and makes a purchase within 24 hours, you will receive a commission on any completed sale.

ONCE AN ORDER IS TRACKED, HOW DO I GET PAID?

Once the visitor makes a purchase on eBay within 24 hours, you will receive the commission. If the visitor makes a bid on eBay within the 24-hour cookie window and wins the auction within ten days, you will receive commission.  All commissions earned can be seen in your reporting dashboard.

See our category level commission rates below (please note that commissions may vary by product where eBay earns little to no revenue):
