  2. Then, go to Smart Placements:
  1. Select Create New Configuration.

4. your new banner in “Title of Banner.” This is for your reference and will not visible in the banner.

5. Select which campaign that you want your banner to be assigned. The drop-down menu lists all campaigns from your account.

6. Add in the search term(s) you want. You can use search operators (Boolean logic) as well. Use quotation marks to make it an exact match to your phrase; parentheses for either/or terms; minus sign for “not.”  For more details, see eBay’s Advanced Search.

7. Select your category. You may leave it as “All Categories” or choose a single category.

8. Select a size: We offer 900 x 220 horizontal, 300 x 750 vertical, or 300 x 250 rectangle (the rectangle is best for your mobile device users). Select a size:

  1. The 900x220 is responsive, which means that if your website has been built with a responsive design, your banner will adapt to your webpage’s container up to a maximum width of 900 pixels and a minimum height of 220 pixels.

  2. The Custom Size enables you to adjust banner dimensions to ensure it is the perfect size and shape to engage with your visitors. To use this size option, you will need to add a DIV with width and height to the Smart Placements code that you’ll be adding to your site. If you use the Custom Size option, you will need to use the following format when placing the Smart Placements code on your site:

<div width=x height=y>

<ins class="epn-placement" data-config-id="your config id"></ins>

9. Choose from the selection of colors for the text of the item title.

10. Choose your font.

  1. Decide if you want to optimize the banner.
    • If you select “Retarget your site visitors”, the banner will identify visitors who have been to eBay and precisely display the best listings for that individual.
    • If you chose an English-language marketplace, you have the option to select “Show Contextually relevant ads”. If your visitor isn’t a known eBay user or you did not chose to retarget, Smart Placements pulls in results based on the content of your site. Please Note: This option is only shows and is available for English-language marketplaces.
    • If you select “Show category results”, you’re ensuring that if your keyword / category combination returns 0 or few results, your ad will still show with broader results from your chosen category.
  2. Select Preview to view your banner and make sure you like how it appears! Quick Tip - If the typical titles for the products in your search are long, choose a tighter font like Roboto Condensed.
  3. Click Save and the banner will save (or missing entries will be highlighted with red boxes).
